A Research Fellow position is available in the Laboratory of Associate Professor Peter Dröge at the School of Biological Sciences (SBS), (NTU).
Job Responsibilities
The Research Fellow will be supervised by Assoc Prof Dröge and work in close collaboration with co-supervisor Assoc Prof Müller-Cajar in SBS/NTU on a novel transgenesis platform for microalgae, which is based on a propriety genome editing tool initially developed for the human system. Besides establishing the platform in different marine microalgae species, additional major aims of the project are (i) to utilize the microbial Rubisco sequence space towards enhanced CO2 assimilation and (ii) the production of oral fish vaccines in microalgae. The work involves algal culturing, extensive molecular biology (vector construction), molecular genetics techniques such as qRT-PCR and Southern blotting, flow cytometry, genome editing analysis, and various biochemical assays.
Job Requirements
PhD in molecular biology/genetics and microbiology or related fields
Prior lab experience in DNA vector construction/cloning, routine molecular biology techniques such as PCR and protein analysis and microbial cell culturing
