Roles & Responsibilities

The Role

The AGM Sales and Programming will drive event acquisition across sport and entertainment with a focus on the National Stadium and the Indoor Arena, for the Singapore Sports Hub. This role will, manage, supervise and coordinate the activities and operations of the Sales and Programming Departments; to schedule and book facility events; to develop and promote community programs, and to provide highly responsible staff assistance to higher-level management staff.

The individual will need to have a significant network to attract and secure world class events and artists as well as those specifically relevant and attractive to a Singapore audience. The AGM will need a creative approach to negotiate mutually beneficial arrangements and encourage a wide range of event and a robust events calender.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set and direct the Sales & Programming strategy for the Singapore Sports Hub
  • Lead all services and activities of the Sales and Programming department including the scheduling and booking of all facility events; development and implementation of community programs, promoter incentive packages, sales materials, proposals, sales calls and contracts.
  • Lead and be responsible for all event calendar management across the Hub, balancing the various project needs including Sporting Events, Commercial Events, Community Programs, Festivals, and Maintenance Schedules.
  • Build strong relationship with sporting federations, event owners, rights holders & promotors to secure high profile, commercially viable events into the Hub.
  • Evaluate commercial viability of events; prepare written proposals; negotiate rental/rates and finalise contracts
  • Drive positive relationships with Sport SG, Singapore Tourist Board and other relevant government agencies to facilitate integrated and effective approaches to potential events and activity within the Hub
  • Lead the community programming team in the development and implementation of various Community Programs and initiatives.
  • Be the lead to ensure the growth of sport, community, youth, festivals and all other non-commercial activities across the Hub
  • Work closely with Lagardere Sports to ensure their contracted obligations relating to sport programming are met
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, contractors and hirers.
  • Monitor, evaluate and continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of booking and sales service delivery with the aim of providing world leading customer service for all hirers.
  • Select, train, motivate and evaluate all sales and programming personnel; provide and coordinate staff training, ensuring a ‘best in class’ team.
  • Budget management and forecasting for the department and individual events. Regularly analyse facility rental rates, schedules, and labour rates, modifying as necessary.
  • Work closely with Marketing on effective PR & Marketing campaigns to drive specific B2B campaigns to highlight the Hub’s capabilities and unique offering.
  • Represent the Sports Hub at international conventions and events, promoting the Hub as the leading venue across the Asia region
  • Participate on a variety of committees; attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of sales and programming.


Requirements


Qualifications & Skills

  • Ten years of senior leadership experience within sales and programming for a major stadium, convention centre, or performing arts facility including supervisory responsibility.
  • A track record of event procurement, specifically across high profile sports and entertainment properties
  • Skilled in the sales cycle for major events tender and bidding processes
  • A track record of complex contract negotiations and successful outcomes
  • Strong financial literacy, ability to model potential event P & L’s
  • Skilled in all customer service, booking, contracting and administrative procedures required in a major venue
  • A track record of leading teams, with a focus on excellence in customer service. Experience with training, development and performance evaluation.
  • Advanced computer proficiency and Microsoft products knowledge.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sales, Business Administration, or a related field.

Personal Characteristics, Key Competencies and Behaviours

  • Excellent communication, diplomacy and inter-personal skills with a first-class customer and client service approach
  • Accustomed to presenting, with strong written and oral communication skills and excellent personal presentation
  • Advanced influencing and negotiation skills and an open and consultative management style with robust decision-making capabilities.
  • Experience of working in an international environment with strong socio-cultural sensitivity; experience living and working outside of home country a distinct advantage
  • Strong stakeholder management is essential as is the ability to bring together multiple personalities to a common understanding.
  • High energy, a passion for the business of sport and entertainment and an engaging / ‘lead by example’ style is essential
