The Opportunity

The opportunity for the Commercial Manager
As part of an aggressive growth strategy, the business requires a commercially-minded and data literate Commercial Manager with a passion for simplifying complexity and unlocking customer value through governed data collaboration.
The ideal candidate will bring a business background, with a strong understanding of sales operations and financial processes. Ideally these skills will be combined with a technical understanding to easily communicate the economic benefits of governed, secure data exchange and data partnerships at both a macro and individual use case level.
The position requires significant collaboration and influence to maximise value for our customers. You will engage with and leverage relevant teams (Product, Customer Service, Managed Services) from pre-sales to post-sales to enable effective onboarding, project execution and scaling of new partners, ensuring relevant client knowledge and development plans are shared across internal teams for more effectively account service.
Key components and responsibilities;
  • Play an integral role in accelerating the data collaboration journey for our customers through strong senior executive engagement, supported by detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis. This involves identifying use cases that drive value by leveraging technology, facilitating workshops to define use cases and driving action on account development plans.
  • Identify and work with partners to increase customer value, through new product use or relevant proposing new relevant use cases.
  • Identify economic barriers to adoption with these customers and develop repeatable strategies to overcome them.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for all business value, TCO, ROI, business case and financial discussions with our customers and partners. Devise and execute account development plans.
  • Develop plans for data ecosystem expansion and work with the relevant team members to drive efficient implementation.
  • Devise project pricing in conjunction with the wider team and processes.
  • Work with Customer Success to monitor and manage risk against the account development plans.
Previous experience and requirements;
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager, Consultant or another similar position in a data related setting.
  • Extensive business development, IT operations, management consulting or financial advisory experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations, including sales, marketing, business development and training.
  • Ability to seek out business value metrics to align activity with high value customer outcomes.
  • Familiarity with diverse and complex business functions including product and technology.
  • Scrappiness is a mustthis is a hands-on role.
  • Relevant technical knowledge including data matching, relational database systems, batch processes, statistical analysis, BI, APIs and networks and security.
Desirable skills;
  • Functional ExpertiseStrong understanding of enterprise software (ideally at the highest end of the enterprise segmentdealing with Global 1000 with multiple C-Level people involved in buying decision) and/or the data market.
  • Problem-solving – Via clean communication, stakeholder management and public speaking skills. Analytical abilities with good knowledge of data and KPIs
