Overview

The Data Engineer is a new and exciting position and SAS is looking for a team member who is dedicated, dynamic and decisive while at the same time having a passion and critical eye for big and complex educational and institutional data. He/She will be the main contact point between various data owners at SAS.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Researching, evaluating, development & implementation of Data Warehousing (DW), Business Intelligence (BI), Data Analytics (DA) and Data Dashboard (DB) solutions.
• Writing scripts and algorithms that automate data flows from one system to another
• Proactive in identifying potential and existing data issues and discussing with appropriate people/team.
• Build, run and maintain robust, documented and auditable data management processes and procedures. Ensure the quality and integrity of data from capturing to reporting.
• Formulate techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data
• Assist with reports and data extraction when needed
• Assist with data analysis and interpretation when needed
• Liaise with developers to improve applications and establish best practices
• Perform other functions as assigned by the immediate supervisor

• Bachelor’s Degree in Technology or Engineering
• Knowledge and experience of data management industry standards and best practices.
• An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
• Experience in handling MS SQL databases and related programs, such as SSIS, SSRS, etc
• Experience in web automation using selenium or similar programming modules
• Experience in data visualizations and dashboard creation using tools such as Tableau or Google Data Studio
• Experience in working with statistical analysis software such as Stata, R, or Python, Google Apps Script
• Understanding of the academic and educational uses/needs with regards to data
• Excellent verbal/written and interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate in a cross-functional working environment.
• Ability to work and learn new skills independently
• Technology Certifications in various DW/ETL/BI technologies will be added advantage
